YMCA – Giving Back To The Community
Recently, I was asked to be on the Board of the Conroe YMCA. I am very honored to serve our community in this way. At the orientation meeting, the question went through my mind, "What makes the YMCA stand out amongst so many other gyms in the community?" As I listened to our director share about all the community projects and fund raisers that are done to benefit young people who would maybe never be able to experience horseback riding, swimming, organized sports and more, the answer hit me. It is this community spirit--the giving back and sharing with those less fortunate than we are. Director, Scott Harper, has started and successfully orchestrated an equestrian center that assists 150 special needs children and has partnered with New Danville residents providing learing and job skills that will help them be more interative with the community. The YMCA has been around for the past 40 years in the Greater Houston area. It now services 90,000 people per day. Six schools and about 4700 third and fourth graders frequent the YMCA where young minds are encouraged to keep their grades up. With "state of the art" facilities and low membership fees, a family can improve and maintain their health and well being year round. Our family loves it. I recommend our YMCA to all my real estate clients and friends. For more info go to www.ConroeYMCA.org. -- Linda Dayen
