Here is an article from Your Conroe News Today about the expansion and growth of our community- Conroe, The Woodlands, Montgomery County in Texas.
“Commissioners unanimously approved a 10-year tax abatement agreement with Anadarko Realty Company for an expansion of the company’s corporate office complex off Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands.
“This is certainly a welcome project that will be a great benefit to the county,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Ed Chance said.
Anadarko, one of the largest independent oil and natural gas exploration companies in the world, plans to add a 30-story building with 550,000 square-feet of space to the current headquarters facility in The Woodlands. Officials project the minimum number of jobs at the facility will be 2,330 – an addition of 450 new positions to the current 1,880 jobs.
John Christiansen, spokesman for Anadarko, said the expansion is based on the need for more office space to accommodate existing staff requirements as well as in anticipation of new projects the company has in coming years.
“We have a significant number of domestic and international projects that will require an expansion of our corporate headquarters,” Christiansen said. “This is a good time to move forward and prepare for the anticipated growth.”
Christiansen said Anadarko is not closing and relocating facilities in other areas, but expanding the corporate headquarters in The Woodlands.
“The company is very pleased with our arrangement in The Woodlands,” he said, “and the expansion of our facilities is a good indication of our continued commitment to the area.”
Construction of the new facility is anticipated to begin in 2013 with completion expected the following year. The 100 percent property tax abatement – which covers only the new expansion, not existing facilities – will begin in 2012 and end in 2022.”
This is great for our area–creating more jobs and boosting the housing prospects for these next few years. This is a great time to buy a home here in Texas (low interest rates and many homes for sale) and we hope you come to our community and check out the advantages. — Linda Dayen, Realtor
